When it comes to vehicle maintenance, the importance of silent blocks cannot be overstated. These small yet vital components play a crucial role in ensuring driving comfort and precise wheel alignment by absorbing vibrations, noises, and impacts. Over time, however, the wear and tear of these rubber bushes can lead to the need for replacement, a process that can often be more challenging than it seems—especially when dealing with traditional designs.

At Sidem, we understand the frustrations that mechanics and vehicle owners face when replacing silent blocks. The original design of the outer bush in silent blocks found in Ford models like the Tourneo Custom and Transit series, has long been a source of difficulty. The nylon material and securing collar, while effective in their primary function, complicate the replacement process. The lower collar’s overlap with the arm housing makes pressing in the new silent block a delicate task, often resulting in damage to the new part before it’s on the road.

The Sidem Solution: a re-engineered outer bush design

To address this issue, our dedicated Quality and R&D team set out to simplify the replacement process without sacrificing the strength or durability that our customers expect from Sidem parts. The result is a completely re-engineered outer bush design that makes silent block replacement not only easier but also more reliable.

Here’s how we did it:

  1. Material upgrade: We replaced the original nylon material with steel, providing a stronger and more durable solution that stands up to the demands of everyday driving.
  2. Collar removal: The lower collar, which previously caused complications during installation, has been removed. This change allows for a smoother, more straightforward press-fit installation.
  3. Optimized fit: We’ve optimized the clamp fit, ensuring that the silent block remains securely in place without the need for the problematic collar.
  4. Guided installation: An extra chamber at the bottom of the bush now guides the silent block into the center of the arm housing, reducing the risk of misalignment and damage during installation.

Why This Matters

For mechanics, this redesign means less time and effort spent on a task that should be straightforward. For vehicle owners, it means peace of mind knowing that their car’s suspension system is in top condition without the risk of premature part failure.
