HOW TO MAINTAIN STRUT MOUNTS.
Start by visually inspecting the strut mounts for signs of wear or damage. Look for cracks, splits, or flattening in the rubber components, as these are early indicators of deterioration. If you notice any damage, it is advisable to replace the strut mounts promptly to prevent further issues.
Additionally, you should pay attention to the strut mounts when performing other suspension-related maintenance tasks, such as checking the condition of the struts themselves. Using high-quality materials for the mounts can also reduce the risk of wear and tear caused by exposure to the elements.
HOW TO INSPECT STRUT MOUNTS.
Pay attention to unusual noises: A worn strut mount bearing often causes a knocking or creaking noise while accelerating; decelerating or driving over speed bumps and potholes. When the bearing inside is worn, you will also notice clunking or knocking sound while steering.
RISKS OF FAILURE.
Decreased ride comfort: As strut mounts are designed to absorb small noises and vibration, a worn-out strut mount can drastically affect your driving comfort. You’ll notice more small shocks and vibrations, possibly even feeling it in your steering wheel, when this is the case.
