ADAPTED OUTER BUSH DESIGN SIMPLIFIES SILENT BLOCK REPLACEMENT.

Silent blocks are vital for the driving comfort and wheel alignment. They allow track control arm movements while absorbing vibrations, noises and impacts during driving.

As these rubber bushes torque frequently and age over the years, they’re naturally suspect to wear over time. A proper silent block replacement will get your vehicle safely on the road again.

PROBLEM: DIFFICULT REPLACEMENT DUE TO OUTER BUSH DESIGN.

Originally, the outer bush of this silent block is made from nylon. The top and bottom of this bush are equipped with a collar to secure the silent block properly in place.

Although this design proves to be functionally correct, there’s a downside to it.

When the silent block is worn and needs replacement, pressing in the new silent block is complicated by the lower collar. As this collar overlaps with the arm housing by several millimeters, it’s hard to press the silent block in straight and without damage.

SIDEM’S SOLUTION: AN IMPROVED OUTER BUSH DESIGN.

To solve these mounting issues, Sidem’s Quality and R&D department redesigned the outer bush. First, the lower collar was removed. To maintain a strong fixation, the material was changed from nylon to metal and the clamp fit was optimized. An extra chamber at the bottom guides the silent block into the center of the arm housing. This solution simplifies the replacement of the silent block without compromising on strength or durability.

SUMMARY.

By reengineering the outer bush, Sidem simplifies the replacement of this silent block into the control arm. This seriously reduces the chance of damaging the new silent block during mounting and even results in time savings for the mechanic.
