This leads to the use of more advanced materials and designs in the suspension components. This is where silent blocks come into play. They support movement and isolate vibrations and noise resulting in higher driving comfort.
Some examples of silent blocks used in Battery Electrical Vehicles are within an Audi e-Tron and a Mercedes EQC. For example in the Mercedes, Sidem’s silent block has an additional metal ring in the rubber to guarantee an extra silent driving mode. For the Audi e-Tron’s front axle, Sidem used a stronger version of the lower front silent block by adding an extra metal ring to the rubber. For the lower rear silent block on this car, a silent block with hydraulic spaces is designed to ensure the absorption of vibration noise and consequently ensuring a higher driving comfort.
